  • get cholesterol checked regularly
  • lipid lowering medications if needed
  • after 50 get screened for colorectal cancer
  • diet and nutrition
    • just a teaspoon of sugar has 15 calories and if you consume that everyday you will gain more than 15 lbs in 10 years. prevent middle age weight creep by being vigilant by (a) finding a healthy weight and (b) maintain it with a high fiber, low fat, low sugar diet
  • daily physical activity gets more important as you get older
  • middle age has highest risk of depression. even a simply daily walk outside helps a lot
