Easy Blender rig

  • Turn on "Edit" > "Preferences"> "Rigify"
  • "Shift+s" > "Cursor to World Origin"
  • Select Person > "Shift+s" > "Selection to Cursor"
  • "Add" > "Armature" > "Basic Human"
  • "Object Data Properties" Button > "Viewport Display" > "In Front"
  • "s" > scale to match size of person
  • "Control+a" > "Apply Scale"
  • "Edit Mode" > "n" > "Tool" > "X-axis mirror"
  • Move bones till they're mostly inside person
  • "Object Mode" > "Control+a" > "Apply Scale"
  • "Object Data Properties" Button > "Rigify Buttons" > "Generate Rig"
    • notice there's now a new layer "rig" in addition to "meta rig"
  • Click on "meta rig" > "h" to hide
  • Click on "rig" > "Pose Mode"
  • "Object Data Properties" > "Skeleton" > "a" to select all > "h" to hide
  • "Shift" click on bottom right layer
    • this will let controller control bones from meta rig
  • "Viewport Display" > "In Front"
  • "Object Mode" > Click on person to select > Shift+Click on rig to select both
  • "Control+p" > Set parent to "Automatic Weights"
  • Click to select rig > "Pose Mode"
  • "Object Data Properties" > "Skeleton" > "Shift" click on bottom right layer to deselect
  • With remaining layers select click "Option+h" to unhide controllers
