Dhokaima Cafe
The food here is very delicious and the ambiance is just superb.
Cafe Kaldi
me too best in town. i think in nepal
Tamura
There's so much more to Japanese food than sushi, and Kido is a good place to try some of that. The eel lunchbox and the udon are great lunches. Not sure about the new chef, but the last one was a star - he'd even do a kind of omakase for dinner if you asked - fantastic slow-braised pork belly, unusual variations on tofu (chickpea tofu anyone?), sublime cold soba, and so, so much more.
I love this place. But they definitely don't fly their sushi in every day. And the waitstaff are really good, so if they "refuse" an order, it's pretty much because they don't have it or they think you'll end up unwell!
Cafe Kaldi
i simply love the coffee... high quality coffee.. high quality cafe
Dhokaima Cafe
They have good chicken springrolls and momos there.

Greenland Guest House and Restaurant
Better if you guys have been to Bhaktapur Guest House.. food was nice there...
Greenland Guest House and Restaurant
We were going to eat lunch inside the main Bhaktapur durbar square area for lunch on our way from Nagarkot back to Kathmandu. But the entrance prices at Rs 750 per person for 3 of our passengers who are foreigners meant we would have to shell out Rs 2250 just to get in. (I think Rs 750 per person is very high just to enter a city but that's not the point of this review). Since we just wanted to eat and not look around we decided to eat at the first nice restaurant outside of Bhaktapur that we found, which happened to be Greenland.
The food was good enough. (We ordered chicen chilli, chicken makhani, and chicken hobbs between the 4 of us). It was only until we got home that I started feeling it. I got a very bad case of food poisoning with massive projectile vomiting and diarrhea for 5 hours. I'm almost positive it was the lime soda that I ordered that did it since no one else in the group fell sick and I was the only one who drank it. Never going back to Greenland again.
Dhokaima Cafe
yea.. it's really nice place to hang out.. our own Yala maya kendra is also at the backyard.. and pastries there is really nice.. coffee was great and,,, mo:mo was really tasty :)
Hoping to be there next week :)
Dhokaima Cafe
I LOVE Cafe Dhokaima, particularly when it's nice enough to sit outside.
If you like Mojitos and you're in the Kathmandu Valley, you HAVE to try one! They grow their own mint (which is often picked after you order the drink).
Great desserts, good spinach pasta. I really like the momos, the spring rolls, and the tandoori chicken salad sandwich.
Mike's Breakfast
A regular breakfast goer here as just around corner from Office.
Lunch is also very very good - fresh sandwiches, salads and wraps - with fresh juices - make for a peaceful and welcome change. Excellent quiet time for lunch.
Cafe Kaldi
Thanx man!! I think I got my place to start a new paper :D
Mike's Breakfast
This place is fabulous :D
Tamura
Wow!! it looks great.. may be I should try out japanese food in there.. may be on my next date.. rather than a business meeting.. hehe
Tamura
love this place. very romantic!
Tamura
Set inside Hotel Kido, Tamura restaurant serves up authentic Japanese food in a nice albeit hotel like atmosphere. The place feels very secluded and is quiet and is good place for both dates as well as business meetings. The free wifi is a bonus. One thing that surprised me was the lack of an eel sushi on the menu - the server refused our request for an order of sushi with eel as well, which is a shame because we love eel and avocado rolls.
Cafe Kaldi
We went to check out Cafe Kaldi today since everyone's been talking about it. I was extremely impressed - this might just be the best cafe in the city! My cappuccino was picture perfect and tasted just right and J's chocolate covered waffles (we finished it before I remembered to take a picture) was just how waffles should be - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was excellent and I understood a little later why there were an army of people with laptops - their wifi (which is free but you have to get the password which changes daily from the establishment) connection is excellent. From speedtest.net I saw that their download speeds were 1.0Mb/s and their upload speeds at 0.4Mb/s weren't shabby either - I have yet to find a cafe in ktm offer such fast speeds, let alone be free. Most impressive for me, however, was the decor which from the pictures you can see are very tastefully done - if you forget you're in the middle of noisy Thamel you could be at a cafe in Tokyo or Bangkok. Cafe Kaldi hits all the right spots - the only downside is that it's in Thamel which I try to avoid as much as possible.
This might just be the perfect spot to meet up with friends or spend a lazy Sunday afternoon sipping coffee and writing on a journal or catching up on your facebooking. Spend an hour here and you might just forget that you're in the land of bandhs and power and water shortages - it's gems like these that in small but important ways make living in Kathmandu a little more bearable and even fun.

good food,good hospitality,nice environment

Guest House and restaurant on way to Bhaktapur that serves combination of continental, chinese, and indian food. Has a garden as well.
