casa de cass

Address: patan

so, there is this lovely little place right across the UNO called 'casa de cass' - it's owned by a really nice guy who makes a point to always come over and say hello. my boyfriend loves their americano and i love their iced coffee - it's not too sweet like it is at java. it's a great place to chill and chat ... somewhat quietly since it's a pretty small place. combine that with its location and lunch time is an awful time to drop in - exploding with expats and INGOers. but, late morning, early evening you can enjoy the decor and ambience ... i've eaten a meal just a few times in there, but it was all excellent! not sure if or how their salmon tastes fresh. the menu is pretty small, but that's a good thing, they know what to make and how to make it right and do it instead of experimenting like crazy and dishing out nothing really satisfying.

I love this place. The pesto spaghetti is my favorite. It's on the lunch menu, but you can get it at dinner as well.

The appetizers are nice.

The wine list is a little short (there's the "red" and the "white"), but the selections aren't bad.

Everyone is so friendly here. The owner really will stop by your table and chat. And if you're pretentious like me and think it's fun to order in French, you can do so when he's around!

I went there once, and as mentioned by previous posters, the owner came to my table, talked about his passion and idea behind the restaurant.

The food was amazing, one of the best I've tried in Kathmandu. Wine list was a little disappointing, given the calibre of the rest of the items on the menu, but the red I tried was pretty good.

Second time I was there, the owner gave me a complimentary bag of chilli truffles; delicious! made me a fan.
