I was pretty excited when I found out that Lenovo had a showroom in Kathmandu. Yay, I thought, I can buy parts for my T43. Not so fast. First, I had a hard time finding the place - their business card says the location is in Babarmahal. I go to Babarmahal all the time so I looked all over the place when I went there for lunch one day. Couldn't find it. Turns out it's half a mile from Babarmahal. That's the way it goes in Kathmandu - addresses are given around a mile radius from a recognizable landmark. I finally find it and walk in and the place is nice enough. I inquire about purchasing a battery for my T43 but the fellow insists on seeing my laptop first which I of course didn't bring with me. Why would I bring my laptop along when I know the model number? After a bit of shuffling around his papers he announces that it will cost me $300 to which I reply that I'd rather fly to Bangkok and buy a battery myself than get gouged for $300. I then ask their price for the X60 and amazingly they don't know the difference between an X series and a T series as they proceed to write on a little piece of paper the "specs" as 14.1 inches. If they can't even get the screen size right I sure as hell am not trusting the rest of the stuff they're telling me. All in all a disappointing experience. On one hand I'm glad that these kind of stores are opening up in Kathmandu but they need a bit of work and be more professional to gain their customer's confidence.
